About the event
Enlightenment Guaranteed is a movie directed by German filmmaker Dorris Dorrie, focusing on two mismatched brothers who embark on a retreat at a Zen monastery in Japan. The film humorously and insightfully contrasts the chaotic life in Tokyo with the brothers' gradual enlightenment as they undergo the discipline and tranquility of Zen practice. Shot in 1999, it was the first instance of a Western film crew being granted unrestricted access to a Zen temple's monks. This gentle film illustrates how involvement in Buddhist practice fosters realization and personal development.
Doors open at 6pm, and the movie will begin at 6:15pm.
